Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
hmmmm ("we", "us", "our") operates hmmmm.org. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you create or view a comparison, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Comparison input — the URLs, category, factors, and context you paste into the generator. We send these to Anthropic's Claude API to draft the comparison.
- Author identity — when you publish a comparison, the display name (and optional credentials and email) you enter is stored and shown publicly alongside the verdict.
- Annotations & votes — text, display name, and optional credentials submitted by readers, plus a hashed cookie + IP signal used to prevent abuse.
- Usage data — basic analytics (page views, referrer, browser type, performance timing) collected by Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate, store, and display public comparison pages
- To attribute authorship and annotations transparently
- To prevent vote stuffing, spam, and abuse
- To notify authors (if they opted in) when someone annotates their page
- To improve quality and performance of the service
3. AI Processing
Comparisons are drafted using Anthropic's Claude models. The input you submit (URLs, category, context, factors) is sent to Anthropic via API to produce the output you see. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, your inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. We do not sell or share your input with any other third party.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party providers needed to operate the service: Anthropic (model inference), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Firecrawl (URL parsing), and Resend (email notifications, if enabled). Published comparison pages, author display names, and annotations are public by design and may be indexed by search engines.
5. Cookies & Fingerprinting
We use a hashed cookie combined with an IP-derived signal to prevent duplicate votes and annotation abuse. We use Vercel Analytics, which is cookie-less and does not track users across sites. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Your Rights
- Request removal of a comparison page you authored
- Request removal of an annotation you submitted
- Ask what data we hold associated with an email address you provided
- Opt out of author email notifications at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email hi@hmmmm.org.
7. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We follow industry-standard practices for storage and access control. No method of transmission is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
hmmmm is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
